The Season Ahead

Just thought I'd keep everyone in the loop with what's happening for the season ahead guys.

Now that WorldNet is past, the new IFA league table resets and everyone is back on 0 points. I've been plugging away trying to get fixtures sorted in advance and the list is fairly filling up. Keep an eye on the fixture thread as I'm constantly updating it when games are organised and what not - here's a link to it here - http://www.livilions.co.uk/forums/sh...ad.php?t=18706

We're playing in the IFA league and the SSML again this year. The SSML has undergone a bit of a make-over and is now being run by myself and Marvyn Stewart from Athletico Dunfermline. There's soon to be a new website and messageboard for everyone to use and keep an eye on how things are going in that. Some teams in the SSML are in the IFA too so when we play against them, the games will probably be double headers (ie the score will count for both leagues). This will save us having too many fixtures to complete. There will also, hopefully be a straight knock-out cup tournament for the SSML teams with the final being played in a league stadium - more will be announced when confirmed.

Playing in the two leagues means there's potential for us to see out at least 41 fixtures this year. 10 teams in the SSML means a total of 18 fixtures, we're able to play a maximum of 20 IFA league matches, at least one fixture in the SSML Cup, a potential match in the British Cup again and lastly the James O'Neill Match. Obviously the weather may play a part in reducing this over the winter but I'll aim to keep organising as much as I can and we'll just see how it goes week by week. We all want to play as much football as possible so I'll try to make sure we do that.

Anyhow, our first league game of the new season will be a week on Saturday (7th August) when we host PSJ (St Johnstone) in Livingston before the first team kick-off their own league campaign at home to Alloa.

I'll get the ball rolling shortly for the Aberdeen away game. the further in advance we can get dates and stuff sorted. The more time you'll all have to put money aside and what not.

Training on a Monday is something I hope we can keep going throughout the year. Obviously not everyone can make it all of the time, but we've been having a decent turnout when it's been on so I'm happy to run with that aslong as players want it. Again, it'll become harder as the dark nights set in but we can look at flood-lit astro's such as Invi & St Mags when the time comes. The training gives us a chance to get together and run over thngs that we identify as issues on match day aswell helping the fitness.

Here's to the 2010/2011 season - I hope it's a fantastic one for us all at GS
