Motherwell have parted company with manager Maurice Malpas after the former Scotland international spent just one season in charge at Fir Park.
With just one win in his last 13 games, Malpas was jeered by fans on the final home game of last season.
Owner John Boyle said Malpas and his assistant Paul Hegarty were leaving after discussions with club directors.
Former Fir Park skipper Scott Leitch is to step in as a caretaker manager but will not be in the running for the job.
Former Ross County manager Leitch is likely join the backroom staff under the new management team.
"We will spare no effort in finding a new manager to lead the team on to success next season and we are delighted that Scott Leitch is returning to Fir Park," added Boyle.
"He is hugely respected by supporters and players and will be a big influence in the dressing room.
"Scott's first priority will be to secure players' contracts and pursue new signing targets."
